Farm Bills 2020: Farmers’ Woes | Discussion with Prof. Sandeep Pandey & Dr. Sunilam

Recently the BJP government has introduced three ordinances in the parliament, namely:

  • The Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation)
  • The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services and
  • The Essential Commodities (Amendment),

The proposed bills are receiving stout opposition from the farmers of Punjab and Haryana. Even the cabinet minister Ms. Harsimrat Kaur Badal has resigned ostensibly to show solidarity with the protesting farmers of Punjab.

In this session we will discuss issues pertinent to the introduced ordinances which are on their way to becoming Acts. Are they farmer friendly or anti-farmer? Do the introduced ordinances ostracize farmers from the Minimum Support Price regime and provide impetus to corporate contract farming

  2. Mr. Ajit Yadav, Leader Lok Morcha, UP
  3. Dr Sandeep Pandey, Vice-President, Socialist Party (India)
