Alok Singh, independent candidate from Lucknow East Vidhan Sabha consituency for by-polls scheduled on 13 September, emphasized on one of the demands in his manifesto: demand for compulsory education in government schools for children of those receiving government salaries and elected/ public representatives. Alok Singh (election symbol: 2 candles) is supported by Socialist Party (India) and Bhartiya Krishak Dal, and is an alumnus of Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru and worked as as engineer in US for a decade before plunging full-time for social change.

Alok Singh said that after all when air travel can be made compulsory only on Air India for those travelling by spending government money, then why cannot education from government schools be made compulsory for children of those receiving government salaries and elected representatives?

DOOR TO DOOR CAMPAIGNING IN TOP GEAR
Alok Singh did his door to door campaigning today in New Hyderabad, Prem Bazar, areas around Nishatganj flyover, Ismailganj, Surendranagar, Ravindrapalli.

ROAD SHOW TOMORROW, SUNDAY, 7th SEPTEMBER
Tomorrow on Sunday, 7th September, a padyatra (foot march) will be taken out and led by Alok Singh and supporters to meet residents of following area: Polytechnic, Ravindrapalli, Maruti Puram, Sanjay Gandhi Puram, Nishatganj underbridge, Mahanagar, Sarvodaya Nagar, Meera bazar, B and C blocks of Indira Nagar, Munshipulia, Panigao, Ismailganj, Surendra Nagar, Chinhat, Kamta, Hosadia crossing and Omaxe apartments (in that order). The road show will start from Gandhi Nagar behind Lohia Hospital in Gomti Nagar passing through major areas of Lucknow East constituency, and culminating in Gandhi Nagar again.
