Subject: Complaint to Telangana State Human Rights Commission, Hyderabad against Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development, for referring to Domestic Workers at para 2 as ‘domestic help including maids and house help’, at para 4 as ‘household help including maids, domestic help’, ad at para 5 as ‘domestic help services including maids’ in Memo 3654/General/2020 dated 6 may 2020 and repeating the same in 3654/General/2020 dated 18 may 2020.(attached), in spite of our notice urging him to refrain from such undignified and unprofessional references.

After hearing petitioner, State General Secy., Socialist Party(India), on 24 December 2020 Telangana State Human rights commission issues notice to the Principal Secretary to Government, MAUD(Gen) Department, Government of Telangana, Telangana Secretariat, Hyderabad vide HRCase No. 1417/2020 dated 30 December 2020. Notice received by petitioner through email today i.e., 22 January 2021. Notice as follows:
‘Call for a report from Principal Secretary to Government, Municipal Administration & Urban Development(General) Department, Government of Telangana, by 10.02.2021’
We trust the Principal Secretary, MAUD, would heed to our earlier representations and issue a new memo stating that the words ‘domestic help, house help, maids’ used in Memo No. 3654/General/2020 Dated: 06-05-2020 and 3654/General/2020 dated 18 may 2020 are deeply regretted and that they are replaced and to be read as ‘domestic workers’.
