(In context of communal disharmony and the cases related to terrorism)
Recently the Hashimpura verdict which has been in the limelight has put forth a lot of questions before us, be it the very existence of a particular community, the complete acceptance of a particular community in the society or the decaying legal system or government apathy and insensitivity. In fact it is not only Hashimpura. We have been facing such questions in case of the Muzaffarnagar riot victims of 2014,in case of Tariq Qasmi in Lucknow or the case of Abdul Qayyum Mansuri who was acquitted recently in the Akshardham case but is still living a life of constant struggle. All these cases point to the relevance of devising a future strategy as to how such challenges can be tackled. These compel us to chart out our role in the entire strategy to fight such discrimination and disharmony.
Our role in the situation becomes more relevant in the context that there is other side of the story where noted convicts like Babu Bajrangi (convict in Gujarat Progrom 2002), Maya Kodnani and accused like Amit Shah get bail easily whereas innocent people like Dr. Sai Baba, Tariq Qasmi are suffering behind the bars. If we look closely towards the both sides of the story the justice system reflects bias to an extent. We cannot ignore the apathy of the government, on one hand the trial court admits that more than 40 men were killed in the Hashimpura Massacre then why on the other hand it is reluctant to offer compensation?
In such an era we need to think over these issues and through discussion and brainstorming we aim to find out answers and solutions which will help decide on solid strategy to be taken up in tackling such discrimination.
