The long-awaited judgment in the Babri Masjid destruction case has followed the one on the matter of the birthplace of Ram. On the specious plea that conclusive evidence was not produced before the court, the judges in both the matters have given decisions which somehow put at rest the quarrels between the protagonists with two opposing viewpoints that were posing threats to national integrity. But the behaviour of the most senior leaders of the BJP has fully exposed their dishonesty and cowardice. The whole world knows that they had vociferously campaigned for the destruction of that masjid because they said they believed that it was the birth place of Lord Ram and that the masjid was built there by destroying the temple standing there. They had proclaimed that they wanted to build Ram temple after destroying the masjid. But during the proceedings in the judicial court they did not own their act of vandalism.
They are doing all this in the name of the great Ram who is hailed as the epitome of truth and honesty. It has been a canon of Indian jurisprudence that you cannot destroy a property which is not owned by you. Another canon of great Indian culture is that you must not tell untruth. The people should realize how dangerous the BJP people are and that herculean efforts will have to be put in to rejuvenate the noble virtues of truth, honesty and boldness.
