Salman Raini (Ph: 9335281976, 9198379619) Lucknow District President of Socialist Party (India) and General Secretary of ‘Young Farmers Traders Fruits and Vegetables Business Association,’ Dubagga, Lucknow is spearheading relief efforts in Lucknow during the lockdown in the wake of coronavirus threat. His team is reaching out to daily wage workers, homeless on streets and in shelter homes and patients or their caretakers outside hospitals and delivering food to them. Being an office-bearer of the fruits and vegetable mandi association he has got a curfew pass to move around. His team is also selling vegetables at subsidised rates (at the rate at which they purchase from mandi, the subsidy being the transportation and labour cost) in various low-income localities. People who can’t even pay the subsidised rate are given free. People who’re being given free packets of flour and vegetables are identified with the help of some local volunteer or with the help of the community.
