Vijayawada: The 195th birth anniversary of Savitribai Phule was celebrated at the Vijayawada Press Club. Savitribai Phule was India’s first woman teacher and a great social reformer who worked for women’s education and social equality.
The programme was organised by the Socialist Party (India). The National President of the Socialist Party of India, Sheikh Nurul Amin, was the Chief Guest of the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Nurul Amin spoke about the importance of Savitribai Phule’s ideas even today. He said that her work for education, equality, and justice should inspire everyone, especially the younger generation.

On this occasion, the Socialist Party requested its National Committee members, Mahila Wing members, leaders of all wings, and party workers to send emails to the Honourable President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu. The party demanded that the Bharat Ratna award be given to Savitribai Phule and Mahatma Jyotirao Phule for their great contribution to society.

As part of the programme, a saree distribution programme was organised at the Vijayawada Press Club to honour women and support women’s dignity and empowerment.
The programme ended with a call to continue working for social equality and to give national honour to Savitribai Phule and Mahatma Phule.
