हरिद्वार के मातृ सदन आश्रम से कई साधुओं ने गंगा के दूषित होने के ख़िलाफ़ अनशन किये हैं। 2014 से अब तक दो साधुओं की अनशन पर बैठने से मौत हो चुकी है। विडंबना इस बात की है कि एक ऐसी सरकार जो अपने आप को हिन्दू मूल्यों की रक्षक कहती है, उसका कोई भी प्रतिनिधि अभी तक इन साधुओं से बात करने नहीं आया है। आज भी आश्रम के स्वामी आत्मबोधंद 145 दिनों से ज़्यादा से अनशन पर है।
Several Sadhus from Matri Sadan Ashram in Haridwar have sat on hunger strikes to save the Ganga from environmental degradation. Since 2014, two Sadhus have died because of hunger strikes, and one is missing. Ironically for a government that claims to uphold Hindu values, no one from the government has reached out to the sadhus on hunger strike and have, in fact, let them die.
