Subject: Declare Promoted all 10th class students of Telangana Open School registered for April 2020 examinations. Urgent – Marginalized students’ future at stake. Shun biased approach towards open school students

Ref: Our email of 20 June 2020.

Further to our email for your urgent consideration to declare promoted all students of Telangana open school registered for April 2020 examinations, we once again draw your prompt attention to the stress being taken by students of open tenth who are already facing numerous stress in their households due to loss of income, loss of health, loss of beloved ones, lack of proper diet, lack of work, lack of classes /coaching centres to prepare for examinations. The biased approach of considering regular tenth and open tenth differently is not in the interest of taking education to all walks of society, and against the laid down objective of Telangana Open School.

The recent onslaught is that in Balapur electricity department has gone on a rampage disconnecting power supply to numerous households, even as the electricity bill payment waiver/concession is pending before High Court for decision.

Amidst this pandemic that has engulfed us and scattered our lives leaving us clueless on our future,  painfully longing for the pre-covid19 carefree days, it would only be encouraging and a boost for the young and old students of open tenth class to be declared promoted,  giving them a fragrance of success and smiles.

Telangana Open School website displays enrollment figures only for early years of 2009, 2010 and 2011 as follows:

Nov/Dec 2009 exams 58013

April/May 2010 exams 45189

2010-11 Admissions 75527

We can estimate that at least 1.5 lac students must have been enrolled for open school tenth April 2020 examinations.

Tutor marked assessments grades in the contact classes at every study center/accredited institution may be taken as bench mark, just as internal assessment was taken for regular tenth students for allotting scrores.

We once again urge the government of Telangana to declare as promoted all students enrolled for 10th open school for April 2020 examinations.  This may be extended to the open inter exams registered for April/May 2020.

We urge all political parties and public representatives across parties to represent this cause before the government of Telangana for prompt declaration in the interest of our open school students most of who are from financially and socially marginalized sections of society.

We await your earliest declaration in the matter in the interest of our Telangana students.

Courts are already flooded with pleas for justice and we do not want that government of telangana be directed by the Court, for what it could do naturally for its young and old open school students.

Best,

Dr Lubna Sarwath, Telangana State Gen Secretary, Socialist Party (India)
Shri V Sai Prasad Sastry, (Retd IRS), Founder president, VOICE – Voice of Indian Citizens Everywhere, Hyderabad
