The Socialist Party (India) is demanding a judicial probe into the mysterious deaths of three tribal youth in Kulgam, who went missing on February 13. The bodies of two of the missing youth, Showkat Ahmed Bajad and Reyaz Ahmed Bajad, were recovered, while Mukhtar Ahmed is still missing. The relatives of the youth are seeking an impartial probe, suspecting involvement of security forces in the deaths.
Dr. Sandeep Pandey, the general secretary of the Socialist Party (India) has strongly condemned the police action against protesters demanding a judicial probe. The police used brute force, and a Dy SP rank officer was seen kicking women protesters. Despite widespread condemnation, no action has been taken against the erring police officer.
The Socialist Party (India) has highlighted that Kashmir has witnessed several fake encounters and extrajudicial killings in the past. Dr. Pandey emphasized that only a judicial probe by a sitting judge can provide satisfaction to the relatives of the youth killed.
