Socialist Party (India) Stands For Free Tibet

On the occasion of completion of padyatra by Tibetan poet-activist Tenzin Tsundue from Dharamshala to Delhi, the Socialist Party (India) reaffirms its support for the independence of Tibet. Socialist Party (India) also urges the Government of India to give up its One China policy and support the struggles of people of Tibet, Uighurs and Hong Kong against the repressive regime of China.

India shares its almost entire northern border from Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh with Tibet and an independent Tibet can act as buffer between India and China and hence can also solve India’s China problem. Traditionally, Tibet and India have strong cultural relations with Budhhists from Tibet coming to India to visit various pilgrimage sites and Indians going to visit Mount Kailash in Tibet.

It is regrettable that most nations of the world, including India, do not recognize the struggle of Tibetan people for independence because of their economic interests tied with China. Even during Chinese aggression on border during Coronavirus lockdown India was not able to sever its economic relations with China in spite of a general sentiment in favour of boycott of Chinese goods.

We hope that nations of the world will at least get an Observer status for Tibet in United Nations like the Palestine and will ultimately ensure freedom of Tibet from China.
