Socialist Party (India) Extends Full Solidarity to the Farmers’ March to Delhi

Modi Government Must Stop Anti-Farmer Policies and Accept the Just Demands of India’s Annadatas

Date: 23 July 2026

The Socialist Party (India) expresses its unwavering solidarity with the thousands of farmers marching towards New Delhi to demand justice, dignity, and protection of their livelihoods. The growing nationwide farmers’ movement is a clear reflection of the deep agrarian crisis and the continued neglect of India’s farming community by the Narendra Modi-led Union Government.

It is deeply unfortunate that the country’s food producers are once again compelled to leave their fields and march to the nation’s capital merely to secure their constitutional and economic rights. A government that claims to stand with farmers cannot continue to ignore their voices while responding with barricades, detentions, restrictions, and intimidation instead of meaningful dialogue.

The Socialist Party (India) strongly condemns any attempt to suppress the democratic right of farmers to protest peacefully. Silencing farmers through force, police action, or administrative restrictions is an attack on democracy itself. In a democratic republic, dialogue must replace repression, and justice must prevail over political arrogance.

The Socialist Party (India) strongly demands that the Government of India:

– Immediately initiate unconditional dialogue with the representatives of the protesting farmers.

– Enact a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP) for all agricultural produce based on scientific cost calculations and fair remuneration.

– Withdraw all criminal cases and punitive actions against farmers participating in peaceful democratic protests.

– End the use of force, barricades, detentions, and intimidation against protesting farmers.

– Reduce the rising cost of cultivation by providing affordable fertilizers, quality seeds, electricity, irrigation, and diesel support.

– Ensure comprehensive loan relief, crop insurance reforms, and timely compensation for crop losses.

– Formulate a comprehensive national agricultural policy that protects farmers’ income, food security, and the future of Indian agriculture.

The farmers of India are not seeking charity; they are demanding justice. They feed the nation, sustain the economy, and form the backbone of India’s rural society. Any government that ignores the cries of its farmers is turning its back on the very foundation of the nation.

The Socialist Party (India) stands firmly with every farmer fighting for justice, dignity, and constitutional rights. We call upon the Government of India to abandon confrontation, respect democratic values, and immediately address the legitimate concerns of the farming community through sincere negotiations.

“The voice of the farmer is the voice of India. Protect the farmer, protect the nation.”
