Veteran Socialist Party leader Prof. Keshav Rao Jadhav passes away
Prof. Keshav Rao Jadhav, a prominent leader of the Indian Socialist Movement, passes away today on 16th June 2018 at a hospital in Hyderabad. 85 years old Prof. Jadhav was running ill for a long time. His funeral was done in Hyderabad today in which leaders and activists associated with the Telangana movement and socialist movement participated in large numbers.
Prof. Jadhav, a retired teacher of English literature, had close association with Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia. He worked with Dr. Lohia in ‘Mankind’. He was among the prominent leaders of Dr. Lohia’s Socialist Party.
He played a major role in the movement of separate Telangana state and led Telangana Jan Samiti to achieve the goal. He also led the People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) in Andhra Pradesh later on in Telangana.
Prof. Jadhav had been associated with Samajwadi Jan Parishad(SJP), formed in 1995. He played a major role in the re-establishment of the Socialist Party as Socialist Party (India) in 2011 in Hyderabad.
Prof. Jadhav’s death is a big loss for the socialist movement and for the Socialist Party. All members of the Socialist Party pay their humble tribute to Prof. Jadhav.
