We, The Students of IIT-BHU were deeply shocked by the conspired and vindictive arrest of Prashant Rahi, our alumnus, a social activist and journalist by police and the State. The brutal torture and devious treatment done to Prashant Rahi was in gross violation of human rights and dignity. Whats more saddening is that it is not one single case but many such Rahi’s are languishing in jails after being framed under black laws like UAPA, by the police and state for their personal gains. These malicious acts of police and State threatens the principles of Liberty, Equality, Fraternity and Justice on which the foundation of our Indian Democracy was laid. So, it is our duty not only as responsible citizens of India but also as Human Beings to fight to get Justice for them and make it a National Movement.
Suggested Actions:–
1. Spread awareness and knowledge about these Black Laws who are used by police and state on their wimps to frame social activists, journalists and depressed people when they raise their voice for their rights or against exploiting policies of government i.e. for their personal gains.
2. Send the details of such cases to Committee for Release of Political Prisoners (CRPP).
3. Participate in the signature campaigns both online, like from website:- change.org (link : https://www.change.org/en-IN/petitions/union-home-minister-1-immediately-release-prashant-rahi-and-the-co-accused-framed-under-false-charges-2-repeal-the-u-a-p-a-or-at-least-withdraw-its-2008-and-2004-amendments) and facebook page (Link: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Prashant-Rahi-The-Fight-for-Justice/1389741697971400?ref=hl ) or Amnesty International, and offline by letters to the respective authorities and invite as many of our friends to sign as you could.
4. Join the social groups and participate in them as much as possible to get justice for them. Remember United we Stand and Divided we Fall.
P.S.- Students of BHU, IIT-BHU in solidarity and to show their resolve to fight for the justice of their alumnus, Prashant Rahi are going to hold a Candle Light Demonstration on 8th April between 6PM to 7PM.
