MR. RAJINDAR SACHAR FORMER PRESIDENT OF PEOPLE UNION FOR CIVIL LIBERTIES HAS ISSUED THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT.

The news that nothing could be imported at Indo – Pak Wagaha border from Pakistan – to India because daily labour who are at present being paid their daily wages in cash have been told that henceforth their daily wages will be deposited in their bank accounts. Nothing shows the insensitivity of Modi Government of this order – many of labour may not have any bank account. To expect the daily labour to forgo their daily wages by standing at the banks shows Modi Government acting like. Marie Antoinette the Queen of France, who on being told that workers are protesting because they say there is no bread very insanely commented why “then they do not eat cakes”. This led to French Revolution and execution of Marie Antoinette. Many believe that history repeats itself.

This practice of payment by cash must be restored not only for the sake of workmen but for goodwill of Indo-Pak trade and even the traders and shop keepers who will be having empty shops. There is an old saying that he whom God wishes to destroy, He first makes them mad.
