Dear Health Minister of India,

Subject:  ‘Cow dung can’t cure Covid… It can result in the onset of the black fungal infection, mucormycosis,’

Reference:  Our Email of 17 May 2021 ‘Punishable Offence by MP Pragya Thakur – Ministry of Home & NDMA urged to proceed against the MP for false claims: “I Drink Cow Urine Every Day, So Don’t Have Covid”: BJP MP Pragya Thakur

As we are anxious that every life be saved, especially in light of surge in Covid and additional spread of mucormycosis (black fungus) we write to you, to officially declare MP Pragya Thakur’s public statement as false and urge the NDMA and Ministry of Home to proceed against her as per due procedure.  This will be deterrent and an attempt to retain science and sense, as we panic that gullible people may bring ill health upon themselves believing MP Pragya Thakur’s statements.

Please see Indian Express news item below where people are smearing cow dung in anticipation of Covid 19 preventive/cure.

“In fact, doctors warn that such practice may result in the onset of black fungal infection. “Cow dung cannot cure covid. It a misconception and is misleading. Please do not fall for such a myth. It can result in the onset of the black fungal infection, mucormycosis, and must not be engaged in. The only way to handle the pandemic is to get vaccinated, wear a mask, practice social distancing, and wash hands,” Dr Vikas Maurya, director-pulmonology, Fortis Hospital, Shalimar Bagh, added.

We urge you to additionally have it declared it through Mr Lav Agarwal, IAS Joint secretary who is briefing the pressdaily. So that matter that, cow urine and cow dung are not related to Covid cure whether externally or internally, is settled and no more such confusing and baseless statements are issued.

We assure you of our coordination in public interest.
