Dear Principal Secretary Health & Karimnagar District COVID Control Authority,

Subject: COVID-19 at Prathima Medical College, Karimnagar. Agony of father for his medico daughter.

References:

1. Communication to Health Minister, CMO, KTR, MoHW, PMO goes in vain. Attached inline.

2. Dean wife and children COVID-19 infected.

3. Minister KTR visited Prathima Medical College 2 days back but no change on the ground.

Please refer to the Whatsapp and Tweets of an agonized father whose daughter is a medico at Prathima Medical College, Karimnagar.
Since 6 April 2020, he has been communicating regarding the unavailability of N95 masks and PPE kits at Prathima Medical College.

We had earlier communicated to you that doctors and health workers should be on a separate dedicated track of treatment so that they recover quickly to save the society’s lives.  They are the first in the front liners curing patients and combating COVID-19.

Three messages below from the traumatized father are self-explanatory:

We expect the COVID Control authorities to uphold dharma (ethics of duty and responsibility), humanity principles and set the system accessible to one and all equitably.

Please redress the grievance of basic facilities for health workers at Prathima Medical College, Karimnagar and streamline the system on a war footing.  Please counsel our young health workers so that they feel confident.

We demand that the government of Telangana, Chief Minister, in particular, to stop every demolition or construction activity in the GHMC area and fully focus on total containment of COVID-19 virus.

We demand a time frame for declaring GHMC and entire Telangana COVID-19 free.

We urge the ministers of Telangana to stop defending and eulogising the chief minister and stick to discharging the dharma of their respective portfolios.

We urge the Prathima College management to take every care of health workers and patients and proactively raise awareness of preventive medicine.

As always people are cooperating with the government in spite of government’s mis-governance.

Please acknowledge receipt and reply with action-taken confirmation. People’s lives and livelihoods and entire environment is at stake. Overlooking these and conduct of business as usual, is not just illegal but immoral, unethical, evil indeed.

It is appalling that state government was busy clapping hands, beating plates, switching off lights and showering petals, for these very medicos who are not given the minimum equipment that would save their lives so that they, in turn, can save our lives.

We are simply perplexed that the overburdened High court should have to tell the government what should be done naturally by the government.

Best,

Dr Lubna Sarwath, State General Secretary, Socialist Party (India)
