Subject: Request to stop victimization of social-political activist Nasir Pathan who is being implicated in false cases by VHP activists in District Kheda.
Dear Sir/Madam,
Nasir Pathan, s/o Musab Khan, 42 years old, r/o Chandana village in Kheda district, 37 km outside Ahmedabad, associated with Socialist Party (India), gave his roadside farm land to Bharat Bhai Ramji Bhai Lamka, of Bharwad community, on a monthly rent of Rs. 16,000 to start a restaurant, through a written agreement for seven years in 2016.
Bharat Bhai took a loan of Rs. 10-15 lakhs in several installments from Kirit Dan, r/o Radu village, 3 km from Chandana, about which Nasir came to know only in early 2020. Kirit Dan claims that with interest total amount that Bharat Bhai owes to him now stands at Rs. 90 lakhs. Kirit Dan put pressure on his schoolmate Nasir to evict Bharat Bhai from his land which Nasir politely refused to do citing the written agreement.
About a week back with the help of his brother Ishwar Das, associated with Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Kirit Dan filed a complaint with District Magistrate, Kheda, that Nasir Pathan has slaughtered hundred cows in 2019 and buried them in the land on which Bharat Bhai runs the restaurant. The police of Kheda Police Station did not believe this wild story and did not file any First Information Report. Then Kirit Dan and Ishwar Das gave two more complaints, all on the letter head of VHP.
Finally a fourth complaint was filed by Ishwar Das that Nasir Pathan, Bharat Bhai and his two brothers Randchod Bhai and Bhupat Bhai, two other Chandana villagers Ibrahim and Salim, a butcher, came and attacked him with a knife with the intention to kill him. Bringing some pressure from some higher level office bearers of VHP, this time the devious brothers were successful in getting a FIR registered. All accused had to take bail from Magistrate in Kheda tehsil.
Day before yesterday, another complaint has been filed with the authorities that Nasir Pathan has been to Pakistan and moves around the country, has links with terrorists and is a threat to Kirit Dan.
Nasir indeed has gone to Pakistan but on a mission to promote peace and friendship at people-to-people level in which I’ve also participated. He indeed moves around the country but only to meet activists and attend meetings of social organizations.
We condemn the use of religious organisation VHP, sensitive issue like cow slaughter and invoking politics of nationalism to target a social and political activist Nasir Pathan and request you to take an action against people who abuse religious-nationalist agenda to serve their political and personal interests.
I hope you’ll intervene to stop the victimization of our colleague Nasir Pathan.
