Sub: Hardships being faced by the migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh

Hon’ble Chief Minister,

You are aware of the sad plight of the migrant workers from my State, who have been working in , and contributing to the growth and development of your esteemed State.

On account of the Nation wide lockdown, sealing of the interstate borders, loss of employment, with no financial reserves to even procure the food, our unfortunate brothers and sisters are indeed in a very sorry state.

The food and financial support, as was promised by Hon’ble Prime Minister, is not reaching them, and many of them are not able to access this, on account of their not possessing any documents!

Many of them desire to leave their present location for their homes, however can not do so due to non availability of transport and the orders of containment!

In many cases, even the wages earned by them are not being paid to them by their employers!

My earnest request to you and all the state official machinery, is to ensure that

1.     Their due wages are paid.

2.     Food, medical assistance, and other provisions as may be needed by them are immediately made available.

3.     Soon as the lockdown period ends, they be provided all help to enable them to reach their homes at the earliest.

I am quite hopeful that you shall take expeditious actions on my submission.

Thanking you,

Sincerely yours

Dr. Shuchita Kumar
