Having failed on the economic front, these days PM Modi is on the defensive and tries to catch every straw to beat the Opposition. The latest is Pulwama. While protesting vehemently against the Pakistan-inspired terrorist attack on our military base at Pulwama, which is about 40 km inside our border, the opposition as also some independent columnist had raised the question how the terrorists could reach that place without being halted anywhere in between. More shocking was the fact that a few terrorists had worn the uniform of Indian police and had driven the vehicle of a district police officer.
Many observers had criticized the lethargy of the security forces whose dereliction of duty had caused the sad deaths of 40 military men. Instead of going deep into that unfortunate matter, the BJP rulers had illogically criticised the opposition for not beating their chests over the tragedy.
A few days back, one Pakistani politician said that it was the act of the Pakistan Army and Imran Khan should not take credit for it. That is entirely their internal quibbling. The BJP men including the vociferous PM are diverting the attention of the people. They should have some respect for truth and decency. Well, we the Indian people will have to suffer such falsehoods for a little more time.
