A team of Khudai Khidmatgar and Socialist Party (India) visited farmer Mayaram Verma’s home inMajra Ajpur of Gram Sabha Nizampur in Barabanki District, about 50 km from Lucknow on 13 May, 2015, a day after he committed suicide by hanging himself from a grill in the ceiling of a room in his house at 8 am. He was merely 45 years old. He is survived by mother, father Sahab Sharan, brothers Rajendra Prasad, 9793181929, Balak Ram, wife, sons, Vinod, 9616078483, and Rahul. He had taken a loan of Rs. 40,000 from Aryavrat Gramin Bank in 2014. The crop had failed so badly that the 4 bighas of land which the family owned just produced 1 quintal of wheat grains instead of the normal 20 quintal every year. The quality was also affected. Eldest son of Mayaran, Vinod Verma is studying in a X-Ray technician course at S.N. Medical College in Agra and needed Rs. 12,000 for fees. He had asked for this fees from his father just a day or two before the suicide incident.

The fees has to be deposited till July, 2015.

Meanwhile, only the SDM has visited the village after Mayaram’s suicide and nobody in the village has received any compensation. Rajesh Maurya, Socialist Party activist who hails from Barabanki district will conduct a survey of the village Nizampur to assess the damage suffered by other farmers which will be presented to the administration so that other farmers are also compensated.
