A successful cycle rally was organised by the students of IIT(BHU), Farmers, Villagers, Lok Samiti, Sajha Sanskriti Manch,and NAPM UP volunteers on 15th January, 2015 in support of the residents of the village Mehdiganj, to protest against the unethical practices of Coca Cola plant near Raja Talab.
Under the guidance of Dr. Sandeep Pandey, a group of III year students organised this campaign by conducting interactive sessions with the students, informing them about the alarming situation in Mehdiganj. Moved by the apathy of the residents of the village Mehdiganj, a group of around 300 students and villagers gathered at BHU Main Gate Lanka, showing their support. Starting at 11.30 AM from Lanka gate, the students cycled their way to the Coca Cola plant and staged a peaceful demonstration at the Gate of the plant and registered their complaint against the Coca Cola administration.The students and the villagers were promptly lead by Shri Nandlal Master. The villagers sang songs and raised slogans to protest against the arrogant administration.
