Hyderabad High Court heard the case of a poor-meritorious student as she was given a ZERO result card and blank OMR/answer sheet by National Testing Agency, NOIDA, in spite of her claim that she has answered (bubbled) 128 questions and expects around 277 marks.
NTA through RTI replied that “with Calculation Sheet which has been generated from the NIC server automatically on the basis of the questions attempted by you on you said OMR/Answer Sheet, you have attempted 0 question. Accordingly, you have scored 0 marks from total marks of 720.”
But, NTA failed to furnish what the RTI query requested for i.e., the photocopy of physical answer sheet submitted by the student and verification of the physical answer sheet through video conferencing.
It is arbitrary demand and a daunting task for poor students/or any student, to either travel to Delhi or to pay Rs.1000 per question for revaluation, as per NTA rules.
In spite of lodging second appeal with the chief information commissioner, new delhi on 13 November 2020 the status still shows pending.
Hyderabad High Court after hearing the writ petition on 21 December 2020 ordered the National Testing Agency, NOIDA, who conducted the NEET (UG) 2020 examination to produce the answer sheet by 4 January 2021. Below extract of High Court order dated 21 December 2020.
“The petitioner, who claims to be a meritorious student, was awarded with ‘0’ marks. In the circumstances, the respondents shall produce the answer sheet of the petitioner on 04.01.2021. Post on 04.01.2021.“
We thank the advocates who took up the public cause and thank the High Court who took cognizance of the injustice meted out to the student.
By law, no institution government or private can admit students who are not qualified hence students handed down ZERO marks cannot apply in any medical whether mainstream or AYUSH college with ZERO NEET score.
