The formation of the Socialist Yuvjan Sabha (SYS) as a youth front of the Socialist Party (India) was announced at a meeting of the National Council of SP(I) on 21st August, 2011 at New Delhi. SYS strives to strengthen the voice of Indian youth in areas such as education, healthcare and employment, and encourages the active participation of young people in the national life. In particular, it is advocating for the inclusion of the Right to Work as a fundamental right in the Indian constitution and the formulation of a national law that guarantees employment to youth, on the lines of the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Act.
